Re: Ben Johnson
He is a youngster who is very much a confidence player at the moment. Will have good games and not so good games, but he doesn't hide and will get better.

Re: Ben Johnson
Not criticising Johnson just wondered why he played so negative today.

Re: Ben Johnson
Lay off the boy FFS . He was poor today but was outstanding against Lyon . As he's been most games this season . Even the greats have stinkers .

Re: Ben Johnson
Exactly. Who the fuck is telling him that the first thing he has to do it pass it backwards to Dawson? Didn't open up his body once to take it down the line.

Jasnik 7:37 Sun Apr 17
Re: Ben Johnson
I want ask who told him he could not try to go pass a player.

Was so negative today completely different to Thursday.
So meant we only attacked down the left.

Alfs 7:34 Sun Apr 17
Re: Ben Johnson
Is it okay to criticise him now? Constantly gave the ball away.

Re: Ben Johnson
This is a really shocking thread , the fact he can play rb and lb equally well is already a big reason to keep him , he also reads the game defensively well but I feel like he hasn’t got much confidence in his self going forward which can obviously be coached . Really bad thread alfs not sure where this has come from

Sir Alf 4:02 Fri Apr 15
Re: Ben Johnson
IMHO he is already the best defender out of the existing 4 full backs we currently have in the squad.

He needs to work on the attacking side we of his game and passing out of defence ( longer ball out needs to find his man or he should look to go short) but for a player needs in his first full season and so young, he is a tremendous asset to the club and squad. Needs to ultimately make RB his own and will once we get a new LB in the squad this summer ( hopefully).

His run and cross which led to the 2nd goal is what we would like to see more of but give him time and I think we could see another England international in our squad.

Alfs 4:00 Fri Apr 15
Re: Ben Johnson
I'm not slagging him off at all. He was very good going forward. I'm simply making the point that he needs to improve that part of his game.

Re: Ben Johnson
I think Alf is saying we are going to be consistently playing in these types of big pressure games and Johnson if he can sort out his distribution will play a major role in our possible success….

Just like Steve Potts one day everyone will love him...

Re: Ben Johnson
Also.
You're a twatt and a smelly infested one at that.
You'll probably rather have Masuaku who can only dream of putting in a cross with his stronger foot let alone his weaker one.
Thought crossed hammer was an attention seeking idiot but you beat him.

Lee Trundle 11:19 Fri Apr 15
Re: Ben Johnson
Thought he had a very good game.

Only Lanzini, Noble, Rice and Diop had better pass completion % then him.

STATS

We still need another left back though, and have needed one for as long as we've needed another striker.

Re: Ben Johnson
Played really well last night - as well as most on the pitch. Which is saying something, because the all-round performance was excellent.

I'm happy with him as Cresswell's replacement down the left. Sure, he's young and he makes the odd poor decision - but I've seen a lot worse. We've fielded a lot worse.

On the right-foot/left-back issue, don't forget: arguably the best left back in the world is primarily right-footed: Spinazzola.

El Scorchio 11:08 Fri Apr 15
Re: Ben Johnson
I was worried how he would cope, but he was magnificent. Not afraid of trusting his weaker foot when he has to, either.

Very fortunate to have him in Cresswell’s absence to play down the left.

not offended, I just think he's talking utter horseshit

Re: Ben Johnson
Makes me laugh when some get all offended at a thread like this, how do you get through everyday life? Alfs thinks the kid can't pass water, and surely he's entitled to air that opinion/frustration on a West Ham forum, or does he need approval from some of you first?

Re: Ben Johnson
Must be watching for mistakes rather than watching for everything. Pathetic thread picking out a young player who has a good game despite the pressure of the occasion.
Get a life

Re: Ben Johnson
A right back playing out of position. Of course he won’t look at his best.

Can’t believe seeing threads like this after reaching a semi final.

Pathetic.
